Win Phone 7 launches in October as an "ad-serving machine"




Microsoft is still keeping quiet about many of Windows Phone 7’s details, but the company has now let slip that it’s going to be available in October 2010. The software giant has also showed off voice search, deep linking apps to Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and the automatic sharing of content created on the phone.

Verizon launches Droid X, Google releases Froyo source code




Motorola’s Android-based Droid X smartphone was unveiled today during a joint press briefing with Verizon. The device, which ships with Android 2.1, will be available to Verizon customers in mid-July.

Google Voice makes its (US-only) public debut




Almost three years has passed since Google bought the voice communications company Grand Central, and now the Google-branded version of the product is finally open to everyone in the US. The company announced that Google Voice had gone public via a blog post Tuesday, noting that the service already has over a million users.
