Microsoft OneApp: GPRS-enabled phones can have apps, too
The Microsoft Unlimited Potential Group (UPG, see our interview with the corporate vice president), which aims to develop scalable technologies and business platforms for underserved communities worldwide, today announced Microsoft OneApp, an application designed from the ground up to let mobile apps work on phones with limited memory and processing capabilities. The software enables phones commonly found in emerging markets to access mobile apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live Messenger, and other popular apps and games. Essentially, OneApp brings consumers with GPRS-enabled phones into the app game.
